To What Extent Is Human Identity Increasingly Mediated?

- Can you personally relate to the idea of creating identity using the media?
Yes, because there are so many influences, especially on young people for example the TV series "Skins. This creates a sense of identity as many young people desire to be like the characters that are portrayed even though they are a slightly exaggerated image of the youth culture.

- Are there any characters or media personalities who you feel represent you?
Not particularly because many of the characters are amalgamations of different stereotypes, and none of the individual characters are particularly believable. That said, since the characters incorporate lots of different aspects,  it possible to identify with some of these.

- Which qualities do you reject and which do you aspire to have?
The qualities that hold some desirablity are the easygoing, party life. However some of the less realistic qualities are less desirable such as criminal behaviour.

-How do you use the internet to create a representation of yourself?
Only some facets of the internet creates a representation are sites such as Facebook and YouTube.

-Are you on Facebook -how does that create identity - what is the template?
Facebook creates an identity by having a huge amount of online social activity. This means that lots of people are using Facebook as a major social vehicle.
